Can I license data from a company that shut down?
Yes. Closing a company does not erase the work you built. If the historical operational data still exists in old systems, it can still have value to AI data buyers. Aftergold helps you explore that without pretending the years were easy.
Does a shutdown wipe out the value?
No. The years still happened. People still got paid, customers still got served, and the software still stored the trail. A closed business can hold a complete record of how work got done — sometimes a cleaner one than a company still in motion.
AI data buyers are not buying your current headcount. They are looking at historical operational data. Aftergold treats that as the residue of a real company, not a leftover folder.
What do I need in order to license it?
You need access to the systems, and you need the legal right to license a copy. If ownership is messy, flag it. Exploring buyer interest can happen before you spend money on legal review.

Questions people ask next
What if we sold the company?
It depends on who kept the rights to the systems and records. That belongs in the conversation with a potential data buyer and, if needed, your attorney.
Do I need the company to still be operating?
No. Still being in business is not what makes the history valuable.
